Sherpa Wisdom

I saw the following quote on Regan Lee's Frame 352 blog. I liked it so I borrowed it to post here.

"There is a Yeti in the back of everyone’s mind; only the blessed are not haunted by it."

- Old sherpa saying

You can interpret this quote many different ways, I suppose. Rather than my telling you what I get from it, I would like to hear what you think think about it. Feel free to leave your interpretation in the comments section below.

  1. Perhaps it has to do with the theory that animals, including humans, have innate fears of potentially dangerous creatures.

  2. This plays on the old adage "Ignorance is bliss." once the search for truth exist, it could drive you mad or glad. Once we realize how small we are, and how little we know our humanity is changed, and our place in the universe becomes one to be pondered and explored, rather than given. Perhaps it is a blessing to be ignorant for a lifetime of peace of mind.
It's amusing, but suffering is a blessing; it is the only way for truth to be attained.
