Although I have fished and hunted that area for quite some time (especially in the late 80's through the mid 90's) I personally never saw anything out of the norm. The boldness of the creature does not surprise me. Even shy, retiring, reclusive creatures occasionally act outside what is considered their norm. Thinking silver back or alpha is enough to make it feasible, in my mind. Also, it appears it was assessing the situation... much like a protective donkey or mule might do. Deciding there was no threat, it moved off. Had the hunter/witness been standing, or acting confrontational there may have been a different outcome, or perhaps he would have never been approached at all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-352450222113966002013-08-08T23:16:53.564-05:002013-08-08T23:16:53.564-05:00Very interesting report Mike! Thanks for sharing this, it's always interesting to hear more eyewitness data which sheds light on the wood ape phenomenon.Jay Cooneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14300702399539846543noreply@blogger.com
