Assumption is coyote, except that the property is fully fenced; coyote would have had to drag a body twice it’s own weight across 4 acres and over or under a fence. Lots of paperwork, manpower needed, & expenses. So the new animals were "tame & released in the wild, or wandered in from a neighboring state, or are traveling through." Not until the public proof is overwhelming will they admit it - basically a government official needs to be on a verified video capturing mountain lion cubs or finding alligators hatching.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-64352079903441674002016-03-02T05:22:07.718-06:002016-03-02T05:22:07.718-06:00" I also don't understand why mountain li..." I also don't understand why mountain lions existing here is so denied,"<br />first of all, the Texas PWD definitely does NOT deny that there are mountain lions in Texas: they have plenty of information on the Texas mountain lion population in the TWPD website. "In Texas, the Mountain Lion is found throughout the Trans-Pecos, as well as the brushlands of south Texas and portions of the Hill Country. Sighting and kill reports indicate that Mountain Lions now occur in more counties than they did 10 years ago and appear to be expanding their range into central Texas." That is hardly a "denial". <br />Secondly, mountain lion populations are doing fairly well throughout most of their range and no longer need much human intervention, although they are occasionally captured for tagging and research, or relocated out of areas where they could be considered a problem. The latter situation could well be at the root of this legend.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04603104535621867638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-29541227451092330392016-03-01T11:14:48.769-06:002016-03-01T11:14:48.769-06:00Well whether or not they were released by the gove...Well whether or not they were released by the government, there are definitely mountain lions in North Texas. Would find prints frequently when my dad and I would hunt near Decatur many years ago. I don't see why they wouldn't protect a resettled cougar population if they took the time to move them to a new location.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07565574614810210380noreply@blogger.com
