There was a clear cut field to my left and a commercial pine forest to my right. A very large black cat (at least 6-7 feet from head to tip of tail) jumped from the left into the middle of the road and in one bound reached the other side of the road and disappeared down a gravel road.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15360252035001433570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-83783802979263799382021-03-23T10:26:47.939-05:002021-03-23T10:26:47.939-05:00I have seen a black mountain lion or jaguar in NH ...I have seen a black mountain lion or jaguar in NH about 15 years ago. It was just sitting on its hindquarters. As I got closer on my golf cart (20 yards it slowly stood up and meandered into the trees on a vacant lot. It had to be 4 feet long and looked like it weighed about 40 pounds. I told my wife and then googled this phenomena and it brought me here.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05325065751653754418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-50945941302558830602017-05-28T21:53:32.700-05:002017-05-28T21:53:32.700-05:00I seen what I believe was a cougar off fm 2090 in ...I seen what I believe was a cougar off fm 2090 in splendor about 3 miles from the high school as well was about 4 to 5 ft long and about 80 to 100lbs it was dusk out the color looked to be dark brown it had a very very long tail it seemedAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04529952661367234314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-73434448871179620412014-08-11T06:20:39.530-05:002014-08-11T06:20:39.530-05:00My mother who is 65 years old saw one of these big...My mother who is 65 years old saw one of these big black cats laying on the 8th hole of Hilltop Lakes golf course a couple of weeks ago. My Uncle and her were able to watch it for over 5 minutes laying on the golf course at night. A cougar-sized black cat ran across the road directly in front of me about 30 minutes before dark. I saw some brown and white spots on its rib area and some white at the bottom of its neck at the front of its chest. The tail was very long and its head seemed very small compared to its neck-the neck was thick and tapered down to a small oval shaped pointed head. I'd seen huge tracks b4 this sighting in eroded cutovers after rains. I'm a hunter/trapper and I know a cat track from a coyote and these were cat tracks. We used to see young black panthers back in the early 1970s playing in the middle of the roads late at night near Jena La and would have to stop the car and wait for them to exit b4 we could pass. They certainly DO exist...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-82793273161735611702013-09-30T09:01:12.184-05:002013-09-30T09:01:12.184-05:00I really like your blog. Spotted large black spotted cats on several occasions when we camped on the river bottom. Once we watched a female with two kittens walking the bank across the river from us in broad daylight for several minutes with five witnesses. Stunned us all, the general consensus was it was a jaguar. Our neighbor says it was a large feral domestic cat. To me it seemed to be too large and too fast. Was only about 2.5 feet long but jet black with long tail. Seemed, to me, that it might have been a juvenile larger cat? There has been quite a bit of talk in the area of larger black cat sightings and the local HS mascot is actually named The Panthers. Old-timers in the region call them "swamp cats" cause they say you used to be able to find the around the creek beds.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3810009914256696264.post-20269442543214263462013-08-12T20:29:53.291-05:002013-08-12T20:29:53.291-05:00I was reading the comments and I saw some in the C...I was reading the comments and I saw some in the Conroe area. My wife and kids were our looking for arrowheads on Caney Creek off FM 2090. Up on the embankment was a momma Black panther with babies. She said it hissed at them more than a growl. It did that until the babies ran over the top and out of sight before she left. She said it was definitely black Big Cat, and not a Mountain Lion. Stories of it have been told thru the generations in her family in the area so she was not surprised to see it and thought nothing of it. This came up after I told her about my brothers encounter with a black panther in Devine, Texas back in the 90's. Just thought I'd share.
